Neil Butler

Older brother of Colin, Neil is a life member of the club, following a distinguished fast bowling career. On his day, he is quite simply destructive and has ripped through many sides with almost unplayable in-swing. 2012 also saw the club record smashed when recording figures of 9 wickets for just 6 runs in the demolition of Warfield CC. A bowling average of just above 10 tell a story that words simply cannot. Very handy with the bat too, with lusty blows often added valuable runs to the end of the innings. Despite being recognised primarily as a bowler, Neil also broke the clubs batting record in 2011 when he smashed an unbeaten 165 in the demise of Badshot Lea, a record he held until Glenn Taylor surpassed that total a year later. Neil was also awarded the prestigious Southern Coach of the Year award in September 2013 accepting the award in front of a packed Rose Bowl from Nick Knight! In 2014 during a match vs Crane CC, Neil claimed his 1,000th wicket for the club, and in 2018, claimed the clubs Cooper Cup (for bowling) for an incredible 20th time! both phenomenal achievements that are unlikely ever to be matched. Neil held the Pyestock Captaincy for a total of 17 seasons before retiring the post at the end of 2016, Appearances have become more fleeting post covid, as 'Beefy' seems to have fallien out of the cricket routine, but he maintains his qualities whenever he steps onto the field.
